🌓 The Moon’s phase today
How much of the Moon is lit right now, and when the next phases come. The same for everyone on Earth, though people south of the equator see it upside down.

Why the Moon has phases
- The Sun always lights half of the Moon. As the Moon circles Earth, we see more or less of that lit half.
- From new Moon to full Moon takes about two weeks, and back again two more: one cycle lasts 29½ days.
- A growing Moon is up in the evening; a shrinking Moon rises late and is seen in the morning.
